First Wine in August

As July turned into August, on this first Friday of the last month of summer, my wife decided she wanted to accompany me on a wine adventure.  So of course I obliged her!  Our first stop was Frichette Winery for our first wine in August.  As per always, the wines were beautiful, approachable and nicely priced!  With our palates now revved for more tasting, we headed to Col Solare and were hosted by Mitze.  We decided to pair our amazing wines with a really nice Charcuterie board.  This was a great decision, as everything was simply delicious.

Leaving Red Mountain, we decided to visit our friends who now reside near the Cable Bridge in Kennewick – Bartholomew and Palencia/Monarcha Wineries.  As my wife and I walked into Bartholomew’s tasting room, Bart Fawbush (Owner/Winemaker) greeted us and was nice enough to host our tasting!  We had a great conversation and a really nice tasting.  We were offered nearly everything Bart had available and the experience was amazing!  Everything this man touches seems to turn to gold.  At the end of the day, we left with a bottle of the 2015 Cuvée Rouge and the 2016 Reciprocity!  Thank you Bart for teaching us about Old World wine making.  We very much appreciated you taking the time to engage with us!

Next…and barely a 10 second jaunt next door, we decided to end our wine adventure at Palencia/Monarcha winery.  As club members, we are always happy to taste how Victor Palencia’s wines are progressing.  With the opening of the new Bodega Palencia in West Richland, we now have two great wine tasting venues to choose from!  Once we started our tasting, we were offered a 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon, a 2016 Malbec, a 2015 Merlot and a 2015 Mourvèdre – all really nice.  What a great way to start our first wine adventure in August in the Tri Cities!  Cheers!
