Italian Wine & Food Pairing Heaven!

Tonight’s art and wine escapades culminated with an amazing food & wine pairing experience at a small, inconspicuous Italian restaurant in Redmond called Blu Sardinia.  Thanks to Mr. Joe Miglino (winemaker of Martedi Winery) who recommended we have dinner at this fine establishment!  This place was pure heaven from the start.  The ambiance was modern and classy but not overly presumptuous. Of course our first order of business was to order something to drink.  So….let’s see….Italian Restaurant, what should we order?  Oh yes.  Wine!  So my wife ordered a glass of the Moscato d’Asti (Frizzante) and I had a glass of Super Tuscan from Italy that was crafted through a joint venture of Mondavi-Frescobaldi.  It was delicious and paired quite nicely with bread and olive oil and Moretti cauliflower (beer battered with cherry pepper aioli).  For our main courses my wife ordered the bucatini pomodoro with extra virgin olive oil, fresh tomato, garlic, basil, and chile, while I ordered the beef short rib ravioli with horseradish brown butter, crispy garlic, and chives.  Along with these main entrées, we also ordered some sliced fingerling potatoes with sea salt and rosemary, broccolini with pinenuts and reggiano, and a Cesare (salad) with reggiano, garlic croutons and lemon.  For dessert, I was compelled to order the Tiramisu and a Cortado with heavy cream.  It was to DIE for!!!  The entire experience was fantastic and our service was impeccable.  Our server, Selena, was very attentive and answered all our questions over the course of the evening.  She was awesome.  Thank you Selena and thank you Blu Sardinia for an amazing wine and food pairing experience!
